SYCO seeks to improve and maintain the financial accessibility of the sport of rock climbing to children whose families would otherwise not be able to afford for them to participate.
Youth climbing can be very expensive; a youth competition climber can spend upwards of $600 in a single month between gear, competition fees, and program costs. This is unrealistic for many families' budgets.
By organizing parent-led, grassroots fundraising, SYCO is able to alleviate the financial burden shouldered by parents of children that want to participate by distributing donations for youth climbers in need - ranging from new climbers who would have never had the opportunity to experience rock climbing otherwise, to the competition kid who may need sponsorship for a national competition trip.
