SYCO seeks to improve and maintain the finanical accessibility of the sport of rock climbing to children whose family's would otherwise not be able to afford for them to participate.
Youth climbing can be very expensive; a youth competition climber can spend upwards of $600 in a single month between gear, competition fees, and program costs. This is unrealistic for many families' budgets.
By organizing parent-led, grassroots fundraising, SYCO is able to alleviate the financial burden shouldered by parents of children that want to participate by distributing donations to youth climbers in need - ranging from new climbers who would have never had the opportunity to experience rock climbing otherwise to the competition kid who may need sponsorship for a national competition trip.
